My Husband Threw My Suitcase at My Pregnant Feet

CHAPTER 1 — THE SUITCASE ON THE STEPS

“Get out, Olivia!”

His arm tightened around Camille’s waist.

She stood beside him in a blue evening gown, wearing the diamond earrings I had bought for our anniversary dinner.

“Adrian,” I whispered. “I’m carrying your child.”

Camille laughed.

“That didn’t stop him from choosing me.”

My hand moved instinctively toward my stomach. The baby shifted beneath my gray dress, as if she could feel my fear.

Only three hours earlier, Adrian had sent me a message asking me to come home early.

I thought he wanted to apologize for missing another prenatal appointment.

Instead, I found divorce papers on the dining table and Camille drinking champagne from my mother’s crystal glasses.

Adrian claimed the mansion, the cars and his company belonged to him.

He said I would leave with nothing.

“You haven’t worked in four years,” he sneered. “No judge will give you this house.”

Something inside me became still.

I stopped crying.

Slowly, I picked up my phone.

Camille rolled her eyes.

“Who are you calling? A taxi?”

I dialed the number I had avoided for six years.

My father answered immediately.

“Olivia?”

“Dad, come get me. Bring the legal team.”

Silence followed.

Then his voice became cold.

“Stay exactly where you are.”

Nine minutes later, two black SUVs roared through the gates.

Lawyers and security officers stepped out.

My father emerged last.

Arthur Monroe had built one of the country’s largest private investment firms.

Adrian believed I had been disinherited for marrying him.

My father removed his coat and placed it around my shoulders.

Then he looked up at Adrian.

“You threw my pregnant daughter out?”

Adrian lifted his chin.

“This is my property.”

My father’s attorney opened a sealed folder.

“No, Mr. Vale.”

She raised the original deed.

“This mansion has always belonged to Olivia.”
