The Nanny Smashed the Bottle to Save Him

CHAPTER 2 - The Sister Who Came to Help

Isabel had given birth six months after losing her husband, Michael, in a highway accident.

Grief, pregnancy and the fear of raising a baby alone left her emotionally exhausted.

Natalia moved into the mansion to help.

At first, her presence felt like a blessing. She answered calls, arranged appointments and sat beside Isabel during the most difficult nights.

Gradually, she began making decisions no one had asked her to make.

She took Isabel's car keys, controlled her accounts and told relatives that her sister was suffering episodes of confusion.

Whenever Isabel protested, Natalia reminded her about the medication she had needed after Michael's death.

Marta was the only person who never treated Isabel like an incapable woman.

"She is grieving. She has not lost her mind," Marta repeatedly said.

Then Noah began experiencing strange episodes of deep sleep and poor appetite. They always happened after bottles prepared during Natalia's shifts.

Marta started watching.

That was why she saw Natalia leaning over the milk that morning.

The laboratory confirmed that the bottle contained a dangerous amount of Isabel's sedative. Noah would have required emergency treatment if he had drunk it.

Isabel went to Marta's room.

The mark from the slap was still visible.

"I'm sorry."

Marta did not answer immediately.

"You can dismiss me if you want. But I will not leave until I know Noah is safe."

"I don't want to dismiss you."

"Then you must stop allowing your sister to think for you."

Isabel lowered her eyes.

"I believed her before I believed you."

"Because she is your sister. But sharing blood does not turn a lie into the truth."

Natalia had already prepared a complete case against Isabel. It included photographs of her crying, records of her old prescriptions and statements from employees who had seen her exhausted.

She even used Isabel's slap against Marta as proof of violent behavior.

A judge scheduled an emergency hearing.

Until then, Isabel could not remain alone with her own baby.

Natalia was appointed temporary supervisor.

That night, she entered Noah's bedroom and smiled when she saw Isabel sitting several feet away from the crib.

The woman suspected of drugging the baby now had the legal authority to supervise his mother.
