Pregnant, Humiliated, and Not Alone

CHAPTER 1 - The Driveway
"Olivia, look at you now."
Richard's voice carried across the bright driveway like a cruel joke.
His hand was still linked through Victoria's arm. He had thrown Olivia's suitcase at her feet so hard that the latch burst open, spilling her clothes across the pale stone.
She had known this moment was coming. She had not known it would hurt this much.
Victoria gave a small, pleased laugh. "You should have packed better."
Olivia looked at both of them, then down at the dress she had worn with hope that morning. She had believed, foolishly, that becoming a mother might soften Richard. That the baby growing inside her might matter.
It had not.
Her throat tightened. She bent slowly, not to beg, but to gather the first sleeve of a blouse from the ground. Her fingers shook.
Then she stopped.
No more.
She straightened, pressed a hand to her belly, and pulled her phone from her cardigan pocket.
Richard frowned. "What are you doing?"
Olivia did not answer him. She opened a voice message and held the phone close.
"Dad, come get me. Bring the legal team. I am done begging."
For the first time, Richard's smug expression shifted.
It was only a flicker. But it was there.
Victoria's smile disappeared faster.
A low engine sounded somewhere beyond the gate.
Olivia lifted her head. The sound came again, heavier now, approaching fast.
Richard turned toward the street. "What is that?"
The first black SUV appeared at the curve of the drive.
Then another.
And the men inside were not who Richard expected.
"You should have never made me call him."
