My Son Found His Twin Begging on the Stree

CHAPTER 5 — Two Seats at the Table

Caroline did not force Noah to move into the family mansion.

She rented a quiet home near his old neighborhood and stayed there with both boys. Noah needed safety more than he needed luxury.

For weeks, he hid food beneath his bed.

He slept in his clothes because he expected to be sent away.

Nicholas began sleeping on the floor beside him.

"You don't have to stay," Noah said.

"I already lost you once."

Caroline attended every counseling session. She answered every painful question, including the one that haunted him most.

"Did you love him more because you knew him first?"

"No," she said. "But I had the privilege of showing him my love. You were robbed of that."

Richard and Margaret were convicted. The doctor who falsified Noah's death certificate lost his license and received a prison sentence.

Caroline took control of Vale Industries on behalf of both sons. She sold Richard's private shares and used the money to create housing for children leaving foster care.

On the twins' tenth birthday, Noah and Nicholas inherited equal shares of the company.

They arrived at the ceremony wearing different clothes.

Nicholas wore his familiar suit.

Noah wore a new hoodie and the repaired golden watch.

Caroline gave them no speeches about becoming heirs.

Instead, she placed two chairs beside hers.

For the first time, nobody treated one twin as more important than the other.

Noah opened the watch.

A new photograph had been placed beside the old images.

It showed Caroline holding both boys.

"Can we add something to the engraving?" he asked.

"What would you like?"

Noah looked at Nicholas.

"Never separated again."

Caroline held them as guests rose to applaud.

Money had caused one child to be hidden and the other to be raised inside a lie.

But it could no longer decide who belonged.

They stole eight years from the twins, but they would never steal another day.
