Conrad was sentenced to prison.

Dr. Crane lost his medical license and was convicted of unlawful confinement, falsifying records and conspiracy.

The clinic paid compensation to every patient whose identity or diagnosis had been manipulated.

Elena's legal identity was restored.

Her company shares, home and inheritance were returned.

But paperwork could not restore seven years.

Lucas hid food beneath his bed and refused to sleep without a chair pressed against the door. Elena could not enter a hospital without trembling.

Victoria attended every counseling session they allowed her to join.

One afternoon, Lucas asked why she pushed him at the cafe.

"Because I judged you before I knew you."

"Would you have been nicer if I didn't have the clip?"

Victoria could not lie.

"I don't know. But I should have been."

Elena heard the answer.

It was the first moment she began trusting her sister again.

The twins took joint control of their father's company. They used part of Conrad's recovered money to create legal support for women falsely institutionalized or financially controlled by family members.

One year later, they returned to the same cafe.

Lucas wore clean clothes, but he kept his old sweatshirt folded inside his backpack. It reminded him that being loved did not depend on looking wealthy.

Victoria placed both restored diamond clips on the table.

Elena picked up one.

"You kept wearing yours after I disappeared."

"I couldn't let you go."

Elena fastened the second clip in her hair.

For the first time in seven years, the twins wore them together.

Lucas smiled.

"The same hair clip."

Victoria laughed through her tears.

This time, when he reached toward her hair, she did not push him away.

She pulled him into her arms.
